The WHO defines wellness as follows:


“Wellness is the optimal state of health of individuals and groups. There are two focal concerns: the realization of the fullest potential of an individual physically, psychologically, socially, spiritually, and economically, and the fulfillment of one’s roles and expectations in the family, community, place of worship, and other settings.”


Wellness encourages dynamic awareness of cooperating initiatives that preserve health, both as an individual and in the community. Nourishing wellness and ideal health is a lifelong, daily commitment.


Why Wellness Matters ?

Nurturing an optimal level of wellness is definitely significant to live the best quality of life. Wellness matters because everything we do and every emotion we feel relates to our well-being. Sequentially, our well-being directly affects our actions and emotions. It’s a continuous circle. Hence, it is significant for everyone to attain the highest wellness in order to overcome stress, minimize the risk of illness, and secure good relations.


Wellness is the responsive development of my whole. Starting on a wellness journey is a process of looking for the suitable “tools” to make you a healthier and happier human being, by enhancing your own effective methods to use these “tools” for proper growth and development. Although there are great variations in all aspects of life, there are also numerous ways to nurture yourself on a variable track of wellness.


Steps that can help people obtain wellness:

• eating a balanced as well as nutritious diet by the natural deposit
• engaging in at least 150 minutes of common exercise every week
• examining for diseases that may present a risk
• learning to manage stress effectively
• engaging in activities that provide objectives
• connecting with and caring for other people
• keeping a positive outlook on life
• defining a principle and putting it into action


Aspects of wellness:

There are eight elements of wellness: physical, spiritual, social, environmental, occupational, financial, intellectual, emotional. Each element of wellness is correlative with another. Each element is equally crucial in the pursuit of ideal health. One can reach an optimal level of wellness by understanding how to maintain and optimize each of the elements of wellness.


Physical wellness: Physical wellness relates to maintaining a healthy body and taking care when needed. Physical health can be obtained through exercise, eating well, getting enough sleep and paying attention to the symptoms of the disease, and getting help when needed.


Spiritual wellness: Spiritual wellness allows you to evolve a set of values that help you explore meaning and motives. Spirituality can be expressed in many ways, for example, through relaxation or religion. But being spiritually well means knowing which resources to use to manage with issues that come up in daily life.


Social wellness: Social wellness helps you perform social character effectively and easily, and create a support network. This element of wellness allows you to not only develop hearten relationships with companions, but also intimate relationships with romantic partners.


Environmental wellness: Environmental wellness inspires us to live a lifestyle that is respectful in our surroundings. This province inspires us to live in consonance with our earth by taking steps to protect it. Environmental well-being promotes interaction with nature and your personal environment. Everyone can have a strong environmental consciousness directly by raising their awareness.


Occupational wellness: Occupational wellness is about enjoying your occupational ventures and admiring your contributions. This element of wellness uplifts personal satisfaction and enhancement in one’s life through work.


Financial wellness: Financial wellness requires the process of learning how to effectively and successfully manage financial expenses. Money plays a vital role in our lives and having sufficient impacts on health as well as academic performance. Financial stress is frequently found to be a common reason for stress, anxiety, and fear for college students.


Intellectual wellness: Intellectual wellness includes having an observant when you experience new ideas and continuing to multiply your knowledge. It motivates active participation in scholastic, cultural, and community activities.


Emotional wellness: Emotional wellness relates to understanding your feelings and managing effectively with stress. It is important to pay attention to self-care, relaxation, stress reduction, and the development of internal resources so you can learn and grow from experiences.


Various key points of your lifestyle are examined in your aspects of inclusive Wellness. And, each one has an effect on your physical and mental health. By making easy and healthy choices regularly, you will be well on your way regarding reducing stress, having positive social interactions, and achieving optimal wellness.


• Wellness is an active process through which people become aware of, and make choices toward a more successful existence.


• Wellness is a choice because a decision we make every day to move toward disease or move toward optimal health and maximum life.


• Wellness is also a way of life no matter what our state of health. Wellness calls for continuous improvement and self-renewal in all areas of life. Wellness seeks more than the absence of illness; it searches for new levels of excellence. Wellness dedicates its efforts to our total well-being.


Begin with little changes within each aspect and grasp it eventually at a time. Don’t need to go on a constrictive diet to implement wellness into your daily life.


Social Bonding: Connecting with friends or loved ones is a great way to improve your physical and mental health. Take at least 10 minutes out of your daily life to call someone you’ve been thinking about. This is the best way to connect and reach with the people that matter the most to you.


Physical Activity: Surprisingly, 20 or 30 minutes of regular exercise can have a positive impact on your overall sense of well-being and help to improve your mood. If you are thinking about where to start? Try a quick and fast walk on your lunch break and after dinner at night or go for the stairs instead of the elevator when you can.


Diet: By adding healthy ingredients in your meal, you’ll be taking steps towards becoming a fitness routine. Put an apple or other fruits and some raw veggies in your bag to keep as a handy snack. This may help you avoid automat or fast food when you’re on way.


Good Sleep: Observe your sleep sterility. Avoid caffeine, including quiet and calm activities before going to bed, and wake up at the same time every day, follow the rule of early to bed and early to rise. These are some simple ways you can begin your journey towards becoming a successful sleeper.

The more you go into your own thoughts, the more you may become aware of how you react to stressful occasions – so start practicing cognizance today itself.
